Drove from Petersburg to Richmond because I heard and saw some great reviews. Meat is priced by the pound. I ordered a half a pound of brisket and a pound of the beef ribs. I purchased 3 sides jalapeno Mac, collards, and potato salad and dessert which was the texas sheet cake and two fountain drinks. The brisket was moist but lacked flavor wasn't worth 18$. However the Beef ribs was the star of the show so tender, so moist and juicy and the fat sent chills down my back. The jalapeno Mac and cheese lacked flavor I give that 2/5, the collards are sweet and spicy very different from what I'm used too I rate that a 3/5. The potato salad was different very savory and rich but I give that a 4/5. The sheet cake was good I give that 3/5. All together I spent $104.11. The customer service behind the counter was great the servers explained how everything works and offered suggestions the atmosphere was very welcoming. The restaurant was clean and nicely decorated. Was it worth $104 no but the beef ribs was worth the 50$ that I paid and I would try them again.

A must try if you're ever in Richmond VA. Make sure to get here when it opens to ensure all meat menu items are available. Place is popular with the locals so a bit of a line is to be expected. Loved the habenaro sausage, brisket, half chicken, turkey, and sides. Kids loved the garlic mash and corn bread. Wife and I love the beet salad and potato salad.

ZZQ ROCKS! This restaurant serves fantastic Texas Craft Barbecue in a professional, well-run, clean environment. ZZQ serves excellent ribs, brisket, sausages and other meats. Go early, they do sell out of popular items! I recently had a delicious chopped brisket sandwich served with optional crisp, pickled onions that bring just the right amount of acid and crunch to compliment the smokey, well-defined, bold flavor of the meat, making a superb barbecue sandwich. The rolls are fresh with a perfect amount of chew that don’t dominate the ~1/3lb sandwich. The baked beans are excellent, in a rich, smokey, hearty base with just the right amount of heat. Don’t miss out on the potato salad that is flavorful and with the right amount of mayo. It’s a perfect compliment to the richness of brisket. The cowboy caviar is also excellent with superbly satisfying flavor that brightens the palate and again, a perfect compliment to the smokier char on the meat sandwich. The friendly, kind and barbecue-passionate team behind the counter graciously shared their culinary expertise and helpful recommendations. After devouring the chopped brisket sandwich, I revisited the friendly ordering counter t

This place was delicious! We went after traveling in town for a local run. The suggestion came from a friend. We got in line around 1120 and the line was at the catcus landscape. The co-owner Orange was walking down the line to see if there were any questions. We asked from where we were standing whats the eta. She said about 40 minutes til we have our food in hand. The line felt like it was moving. The timestamp on the photos has us sitting down at 120p with our food. In the meantime, a staff member came out to mention when items were gone. They sold out of the banana pudding. Ordered: 1/2 brisket, pulled pork sandwich, pulled lamb sandwich, 1 pork rib, Mac, collard greens, orange texas caviar, (all sides size small) whoopie pie, and kolache cherry cream. Fountain drink and two drinks from the bar. ~$100 Top 3 for me: Brisket [so wish we ordered more even if it was to take home], lamb pulled sandwich, and the collard greens. Sauce fave: Thick Would come again with the strategy to be in line before opening and order enough to share and take home.

I really liked the taste of the brisket. I ordered from the fatty parts, which is the best, to get the brisket moist and tender. The pork ribs were not tender. I also like the TX hot sausage. The jalapeΓ±o macaroni might have been better if they had brought out a fresh batch. I got from the end portion which was too cold for my liking. I tried to ask to get my portion from the new batch, but he tried to convince me it was the same. I like my macaroni to be hot and for the cheese to be melted, not congealed, so this wasn't to my liking. The peach cobbler is also not to my liking. Too many peaches and not enough of the pastry, which is probably why the texture was too mushy overall. We ordered the means, but they don't have charro beans on the menu anymore, which is a big disappointment. I definitely do not like their new beans on the menu. The potato salad and cole slaw were tasty. Basically, I would only return for the brisket and sausage. But I really like to enjoy my sides with my meats, and frankly, the sides were too much of a miss here, for me. I'm from TX, so I wanted to give this place a try.
